Collaborating with Aiwass is always an adventure, and working on The Cruel Brother was no exception. This was our second project together, but this time, my role went beyond mixing—I was fully in the band, playing drums and co-producing the track. Getting hands-on in the creative process like this made the whole experience even more rewarding.

The Cruel Brother pulls from an old Scottish folk song, and we leaned into that history while fusing it with Aiwass’s signature doom-heavy sound. Folk melodies weave in and out of the track, shifting and evolving as the song builds. I took a lot of care in crafting a drum arrangement that let these influences breathe while keeping everything driving and intense. The result is something unique—both haunting and powerful, a blend of old-world storytelling and crushing modern heaviness.

I couldn’t be prouder of how this one turned out. It’s one of those tracks that captures the best of what collaboration is about—new ideas, unexpected influences, and a team that’s totally locked in.
