Garrett Thorn – Apollo

Some collaborations just click from day one, and working with Garrett Thorn was one of those moments. We were introduced by our mutual friend and collaborator, JR Redford, when Garrett was looking for the right mix engineer for his new album. One phone call later, and we knew we were on the same page—same vision, same passion for the music.

The album came to life at The Amber Sound studio in Hermitage, TN, with Mat Poole engineering the sessions. Mat and the band locked in, delivering performances so dialed in that mixing felt effortless. Garrett gave me the space to experiment and bring out the full potential of each track, and because of that trust, the mixes came together fast—almost like the album had a mind of its own, guiding the process.

This project wasn’t just about getting the mix right—it was about forming a creative partnership. Garrett and I are already brainstorming the next moves, and I know this is just the beginning of a long and exciting collaboration.

Beyond the technical side of mixing and mastering, what I love most is the friendships that come out of these projects. It’s more than just making music—it’s about building something real with people who inspire you. That’s exactly what happened with Garrett, and I couldn’t be more stoked for what’s next.

Looking back on this project, I’m just grateful. Grateful to have played a role in bringing Garrett’s vision to life and grateful for the creative doors this has opened. The future is bright, and the music? It’s only getting started.
