Get Humble was a turning point for Handsome Jack—a bold step forward that saw them breaking from their usual recording approach and diving into new sonic territory. They left behind their trusty tape machine, embracing a fully digital workflow for the first time. The goal? A bigger, more expansive sound. And judging by the final product, they nailed it.

Even with the switch in technology, the heart of the record remained raw and real. The band tracked the core of each song live, all in the same room, locking in that signature Handsome Jack energy. From there, they meticulously layered guitars, vocals, and overdubs, pushing the sonic depth to new heights. Horns and keys were carefully arranged to complement the evolving sound, adding richness without overpowering the grit that makes them who they are.

For mixing, we leaned into UA’s Luna software—brand new at the time—which emulates classic analog gear while keeping the flexibility of a digital setup. The result was the best of both worlds: a warm, vintage vibe with the clarity and punch of a modern mix.
