Alex Franc – The Anti Hero

In the winter of 2019, I linked up with Alex Franc—an insanely talented singer, songwriter, and producer from Indiana—to help bring his debut LP to life. This one was special because I wasn’t just mixing or engineering—I had my hands in just about everything. Recording engineer, producer, mix engineer, mentor—you name it, I was in it.

Working with Alex took me back to my own early days in music. When I was starting out, I would’ve killed for a mentor to guide me through the process, so I wanted to be that for him. But the cool thing is, mentorship isn’t a one-way street. We bounced ideas off each other, pushed each other creatively, and came out on the other side with something we were both proud of.

The album’s diversity made every session exciting. Some tracks needed a careful, dialed-in engineering approach to capture the perfect take. Others needed me to step in as a producer, shaping the arrangement and direction. When it came time to mix, I made sure every track had its own space while still fitting into the bigger picture (pun intended).

At the core of it all, this was Alex’s project, his vision. My job was to amplify that, not override it. I gave feedback where it was needed, but ultimately, I wanted to make sure he had the creative freedom to express himself fully. That approach led to an album that feels authentic—one that captures his artistry without compromise.

This wasn’t just another record for me; it was a reminder of why I love what I do. Watching Alex grow through this process and seeing where his music is headed has been incredible. I have no doubt he’s going to carve out something special in the industry, and I’m grateful I got to play a part in his journey., an exceptionally talented singer, songwriter, and producer from Indiana, on his debut LP.
