All Them Witches – ATW

After a relentless year on the road with All Them Witches, it was time to get the boys back in the studio. The energy was there, the ideas were flowing, and we needed to capture it. Naturally, we found ourselves back in the Kingston Springs cabin—a space that had already proven its magic when Ben McLeod and I did a record there with Idle Bloom in 2017. There’s something about that place. It holds a creative charge, a history that lingers in the walls, waiting for the right people to plug into it.

For this record, we weren’t just chasing a sound—we were crafting an entire sonic world. To do that, we went all in on the gear. We pulled from Blackbird Studios’ legendary collection, bringing in some of the best equipment Nashville had to offer. But we didn’t stop there. We sought out rare, handcrafted pieces from Coil Audio and Stager Microphones—gear that added layers of warmth, character, and texture you can’t replicate with digital tricks. Every decision was intentional, every choice designed to pull the absolute most out of the music.

The sessions were intense, but that’s when the best stuff happens. Everyone locked in, pushing each other creatively, capturing performances that felt alive in a way you can’t fake. Once we had everything tracked, we handed it off to Rob Schnapf in Los Angeles for mixing. If anyone could bring a fresh, dynamic perspective to the project, it was him. Then, Pete Lyman in Nashville put the final stamp on it with his mastering touch.

The end result? A record that stands as one of the proudest moments of my career. Every layer, every texture, every tone tells the story of that time in the cabin—of a band at their peak, completely locked into the music. If you know, you know. And if you don’t, now’s the time to find out.
